Dr. A. Das Gupta carried out additional duties as Officer-in-charge of West Bengal Board of Examinations for admission to Engineering Degree Colleges from 01.04.74 to 31.03.78, Additional Professor-in-charge of examinations from 12.03.79 to 10. 04.80, Member of Post Graduate Board of studies of Calcutta University, He was instrumental in the approval of the revised Post Graduate Curricula for all the Post Graduate Engineering Departments of B. E. College, by the University of Calcutta. He also acted as Honorary Convener of the Water Resources Day Committee for ten years. He is at present a member of the U. G. Board of studies for Civil Engineering, W. B. U. T. He is also acting as a Member of the Ph. D Committee of West Bengal University of Technology.
Dr. A. Das Gupta is a life fellow/member of the following professional bodies:-
(i) Fellow of the Association of Engineers.
(ii) Fellow of the Indian Association of Hydrologists.
(iii) Fellow of the Indian Water Resources Society.
(iv) Member of the Institution of Engineers (India)
(v) Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education.
(vi) Member of the Indian Society of Hydraulics
(vii) Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers -IS
(viii) Member of the Indian Society of Wind Engineers.
(ix) Member of the National Society of Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Power.
Extra curricular Activities:
While serving B. E. College, Dr. Amitabha Das Gupta carried out the following extra curricular activities voluntarily in Honorary Positions as social service.
(i) Acted as Elected/Nominated Member of the Managing Committee of B. E. College Model School for eight years.
(ii) Worked as Secretary/President of Bharati School of Music & Dance for about six years.
(iii) Acted as Secretary, Professors’ Common Room in 1973-1974.
(iv) Elected as President/Secretary of West Bengal Government College Engineering Teachers Association.
(v) Elected as the President of B. E. College Staff Club.
Publications:
Published fifteen papers in different Technical Journals & Seminar Proceedings.
Awards:
(1) Life Time Achievement Award by National & International Compendium on 23rd November, 2006 for outstanding achievements in the chosen field of activity.
(2) In the annual Convocation of Bengal Engineering and Science University, held on 14th February, 2007. Dr. A. Das Gupta was honoured as the Distinguished Teacher for the year 2007, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to teaching and research for over two decades and for encouraging and nurturing students who have distinguished themselves by their scholastic achievements.
(3) “International Achievers Award for Education Excellence”, was given during the International Achievers Summit in New Delhi on 7th August, 2009 by Indian Achievers Forum.
(4) “Best Educationist Award” and a “Certificate of Excellence” issued by International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi on 23rd January, 2011.
(5) “Mother Teresa Excellence Award” – awarded by Integrated Council for Socio-Economic Progress (Thrissur, Kerala) in Hyderabad on 10th April, 2011.
(6) “Rastra Prativa Puraskar” – awarded by Integrated Council for Socio-Economic progress (Thrissur, Kerala) in Kolkata on 29th January, 2012.
(7) “Noble son of India Award” - awarded by Integrated Council for Socio Economic Progress (Thrissur, Kerala) on 31st May, 2012 for Meritorious achievements in chosen field of activities that immensely contributed for the Nation’s progress.
(8) “Glory of India Award” - awarded by Integrated Council for Socio-Economic progress (Thrissur, Kerala) in Kolkata on 24th February, 2013 for praiseworthy services, excellent performance and noble contribution in chosen field of activity.
(9) “Golden Educationist of India Award” - awarded by National & International Compendium, on June, 2013.
